Stay Sit Snuggle collects only what it needs to answer you and arrange your sit. This website sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising trackers.
Who is responsible
Darcie Nolan owns and runs Stay Sit Snuggle and is responsible for how it handles personal information, on staysitsnuggle.com, when you call or message, and at the meet and greet. To ask a question or raise a concern about your information, call (250) 416-9747. Requests to see or correct your information are made in writing (see Access, correction and complaints).
What is collected and why
Reading this website. Reading the site does not ask you for anything. Cloudflare, which hosts it, receives the technical details that every web request carries, such as your IP address, so it can deliver the pages and keep the site secure.
The booking form. Stay Sit Snuggle does not use a booking form yet. When one is added, this policy will be updated before it goes live.
Calls and messages. To ask about a sit, you can call or message Stay Sit Snuggle on Facebook with your first and last night, your town, and your pets and anything they need. There is no need to send your address or door codes. What you share is used only to reply to you and to arrange and carry out your sit. Messages sent through Facebook Messenger are also handled by Meta under its own privacy policy.
At the meet and greet. Darcie notes what she needs to look after your pets and your home during the sit. It is used only to arrange and carry out your sit.
British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act requires the purpose to be explained when information is collected, and allows collection only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate.
Service providers and where they are based
- Meta runs Facebook and Messenger. What you send by Messenger is handled by Meta, a company based in the United States, under its own privacy policy (Meta privacy policy).
- Cloudflare hosts this website and receives the technical details that every web request carries, such as your IP address. Cloudflare is based in the United States (Cloudflare privacy policy).
Information outside Canada
Meta and Cloudflare are based in the United States, so what you send by Messenger and the technical details of each visit to this website may be processed outside Canada. Information held in another country may be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities of that jurisdiction (Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, guidelines for processing personal data across borders).
Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or tracking script.
There is no Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or advertising tag on this site. If a tracker is ever added, this section is updated first. The links to Facebook lead to a third party, which has its own policy. This website loads nothing from Facebook until you follow one of those links.
Stay Sit Snuggle sends no newsletter yet. When it does, it will email you only with your recorded consent, every email will have an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribes will be actioned within 10 business days (Government of Canada, Canada's anti-spam legislation).
How long information is kept, and how it is protected
What you send by phone or by Messenger, and what you share at the meet and greet, is kept only as long as it is needed to arrange and carry out your sit and to answer you. Information used to make a decision about you is kept for at least one year after it is used, as British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act requires.
This website has no accounts or database of its own and runs no tracking script, so it keeps no record of who reads it. Cloudflare handles the technical details of each web request under its own privacy policy.
Stay Sit Snuggle protects the personal information in its care with reasonable security arrangements, as the same Act requires. It does not sell or rent personal information, and it does not use it for advertising.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask what personal information Stay Sit Snuggle holds about you and how it has been used, and ask for it to be corrected. Send your request in writing by message to Stay Sit Snuggle on Facebook, with enough detail to find your information. For questions about how to ask, call (250) 416-9747.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Changes to this policy
This policy is updated whenever the site changes what it collects or who handles it, and a new form or service provider is added here before it goes live. The dates at the top of the page show when it took effect and when it last changed.
